Rodallega set to continue wing role

Roberto Martinez has revealed that the arrival of Mauro Boselli has given him increased options up front. The Argentine strikers arrival is also likely to mean more wing time for Hugo Rodallega. The Columbian striker managed an impressive 11 goals for the Latics last term as he switched regularly from lead striker to left winger. This season however, manager Roberto Martinez has an attacking vision involving Boselli, N'Zogbia, Moses, and Rodallega that is likely to see the former Necaxa man spend more time on the flank. Speaking in the Wigan Evening Post, Martinez said: “Hugo has been playing out wide on the left all pre-season because it’s the only way he will learn how to do it. “And I want him to master that position as much as he has mastered playing on his own through the middle. He has played up front since he was a kid and so he understands the game completely. “Out wide, there are aspects of the game he is still learning and he will be a real threat when he does learn it completely. “I saw him play out wide for Colombia and I know he can adapt to that position. He really enjoys playing out there and I feel he will be a real threat for us this season.” No doubt the game with Blackpool at the weekend could see Hugo score his first goal of the season. Although it will be an interesting race with N'Zogbia and Boselli also in the striking ranks. CLICK HERE FOR THE MESSAGEBOARD
