Reid torn over McArthur's future

illy Reid admits he is torn between wanting to keep James McArthur for another season and seeing him earn the big move he deserves.[LNB] The Hamilton midfielder was tipped for a summer departure after attracting the interest of Wigan and also being linked with Rangers and Leeds.[LNB]However, the 22-year-old - who has a year left on his deal at Accies - has yet to be snapped up, meaning a weeks of uncertainty so far for both the player and the club.[LNB]"It's been ongoing and I actually feel for the lad to be honest," said Reid.[LNB]"He's been back training and I don't think there is any point speculating. At the moment, James McArthur is a Hamilton player.[LNB]"I thought he was brilliant again last season. For me, he is one of the better midfield players in Scotland and I think he has proved that.[LNB]"He has done it against the top teams. But finance talks.[LNB]"I sometimes think because the lads play for Hamilton Accies, people don't rate them as highly as I do. Maybe I over-rate them but James' performances on the park speak for themselves.[LNB]"It's a double-edged sword. We have put a lot of work into James McArthur and it would be nice if the club was reimbursed for what it has put in. But if he is a Hamilton Accies player next season, I'll be absolutely delighted.[LNB]"If he goes, I've got to replace him. I've already lost James Wesolowski in the middle of the park so to lose two players of that stature would be a big, big loss for me.[LNB]"The longer it goes on, the more difficult it is for me but we will see what happens."[LNB]Asked whether cash from the sale of McArthur would be reinvested back into the squad, Reid added: "I have got my eye on some players who I would like to bring in but it's all down to finances.[LNB]"At a club like Hamilton, it will be difficult to replace a player who's going to play at a bigger club. But we've done it before with James McCarthy and there is no reason why we can't do it again."
