Real Madrid offer Javier Saviola to Wigan for Antonio Valencia

Reports emerged last week that the Spanish champions were focussing their attentions on Valencia after Aston Villa indicated they were unwilling to part with Ashley Young. [LNB]Real Madrid are ready to offer Wigan £11 million plus the Bernabeu's surplus to requirements striker Saviola but insist they will not pay over the odds for the Ecuadorean. [LNB]However, Wigan are demanding offers in the region of £20 million, a figure which could prove an eventual stumbling block considering that Real have forked out £38 million on Lassana Diarra and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar during the transfer window.[LNB]Saviola has failed to make an impact since moving from their rivals Barcelona in 2007. He has also failed to start a game under Juande Ramos.[LNB]Everton and Portsmouth also want to sign Saviola on loan from Real. Tony Adams needs a striker to replace Jermain Defoe and with Ben Sahar having returned to Chelsea, he has a loan slot available. [LNB]Saviola was feted as a future world star when he emerged at River Plate, scoring 44 goals in 86 games for the Argentinian club. [LNB]After early success at Barcelona, his career has begun to drift and he has made just 16 appearances for Real Madrid since joining them from Barcelona in the summer of 2007. [LNB][LNB][LNB]
