Ramis bid confirmed

Latics chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed the club have made a bid for Mallorca defender Ivan Ramis.

The 27 year old defender has been the subject of much interest this summer from a host of clubs, including up to four from the Premier League.

Chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed that the Latics are one of the clubs interested and have lodged an official offer for the highly rated defender.

Speaking to ESPN, Whelan said: "We have made a bid in the region of £4 million, and we are waiting to see if it will be accepted."

Whilst a spokesman for Ramis added: "Although there is plenty of interest in Ivan, we are convinced that he will end up at Wigan." Roberto Martinez has alreaady added nineteen year old midfielder Fraser Fyvie to the squad aswell as the eagerly anticipated return of Mauro Boselli from his loan spells. With the bulk of the squad still in place from last years end of season winning streak still in place, optimism is high for a good year at the DW Stadium.
