No return date set for McArthur

Following the news of Ben Watson's broken leg further attention has turned to the expected prognosis for Scotland international midfielder James McArthur.

The former Hamilton man has been out for the last three games with a dead leg and Martinez has revealed that the injury is taking lnoger than anticipated to clear.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post, Martinez said: “It was a nasty injury that James suffered, and his recovery time is still ongoing.

“He’s not ready yet to rejoin the group, and we’re going to continue to assess him this week to see how he develops."

Former Wolves man David Jones is likely to be given a chance to impress in the centre of midfield alongside James McCarthy for this weekend's game with Reading.
