PSV Eindhoven have not joined Wigan in the race to sign Christian Benitez, according to Santos Laguna president Alejandro Irarragorri.[LNB] The 22-year-old Ecuadorean has been a long-term target for Steve Bruce and it is believed the Latics could make a summer swoop to bring the striker to the JJB Stadium.[LNB]Reports have recently surfaced that Dutch power PSV may be preparing to make a bid of their own. Although Irarragorri admits that the interest in Benitez is high, he insists that he has not been approached by PSV.[LNB]"There has been no approach," he told Medio Tiempo.[LNB]"As I have always said, Benitez is a great player and I have complete faith in his ability to go far because he has great commitment to this team. [LNB]"There is interest from many teams, but that story is not accurate." [LNB]Irarragorri did not rule out the possibility that Benitez could be heading to Europe in the near future but stated that the Mexican club has not yet received a serious offer for the striker. [LNB]He added: "There have been approaches from Wigan and many other teams, but so far there has not been anything formal."[LNB]
