Wigan striker Victor Moses snatched a second half equaliser to rescue a 1-1 draw against Norwich on Sunday.
Roberto Martinez's side remain bottom of the Premier League, but Moses's goal at least allowed them to move within two points of safety after a battling display at Carrow Road.
The Latics could have climbed up to 18th place with a win, but they finished grateful for the draw after falling behind to Wes Hoolahan's first-half strike.
Norwich, who sit comfortably in mid-table after an impressive first season back in the top flight, took the lead with their first meaningful attack on 10 minutes.
Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi dragged a clearance straight out of play and Adam Drury took a quick throw which sent Simeon Jackson clear on the left side of the penalty area.
Canada forward Jackson floated a ball into the six-yard box, where Hoolahan got in between two defenders to hook the ball into the far corner of the net.
Given their struggles this season it would have been no surprise to see Wigan throw in the towel after that early setback, but they responded impressively.
Moses cut the ball back through the six-yard box, where Hugo Rodallega spun his marker and fired goalwards, but John Ruddy was well placed to save.
Norwich appealed in vain for a penalty when Grant Holt turned and fired in a shot which struck Latics captain Gary Caldwell on the arm, but referee Kevin Friend was not interested.
Wigan were unlucky not to level before half-time when Emerson Boyce got away down the right. His deflected cross flew over Ruddy and bounced off the top of the crossbar before being put behind.
The visitors finally netted a deserved equaliser on 68 minutes when Shaun Maloney slipped an astute pass through to Moses, who rounded Ruddy before slotting home.
A tense finish saw Norwich substitute Steve Morison's header from a corner hacked off the line by Jean Beausejour before Elliott Ward planted his header just wide.
Wigan almost snatched victory with four minutes left when Maloney broke down the left and crossed for substitute Mohamed Diame, who somehow put the ball over from six yards.
Al Habsi then produced a brilliant one-handed save to keep out Morison's goalbound header as the Latics came away with a deserved point.
