Moses battling to be fit for Spurs clash

Victor Moses is facing a race against time to be fit for the Latics against Spurs this weekend after Gary Liddle's nasty tackle in Tuesday's Carling cup win over Hartlepool. Roberto Martinez will be keen to have a full squad at his disposal as the Latics aim to capitalise on Spurs' European party hangover, whilst at the same time gain revenge for the 9-1 thrashing they endured at the Lane last season. Moses suffered a badly brusied ankle in the 3-0 victory over Hartlepool in midweek, and the initial signs were touch-and-go if he would be okay for the weekend. Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post, Martinez said: “Unfortunately, we picked up a silly injury at the end to Victor, which is a big negative. “It was a really, really nasty tackle from behind and he hit Victor right on the ankle. The joint has swelled right up, and we’ll probably only know how bad it is tomorrow.” Whilst Moses himself added: “Hopefully I’ll be okay for Saturday,” Moses said as he limped on to the team coach. I got smashed on my ankle, and it’s very sore, but fingers crossed.” The former Crystal Palace winger has made an impressive start to the season for the Latics and he would no doubt like to continue that in the capital this weekend.
