Montrose could feature this season

Chesterfield's play-off challenge could be set for a boost following news that Lewis Montrose's knee injury is not as bad as initially feared. The midfielder, on loan from Wigan, returned to the JJB Stadium earlier this week after suffering suspected ligament damage in the Spireites' 1-1 draw at Macclesfield. The injury was expected to signal the end of the 20-year-old's season but the results of scans at Wigan have revealed good news and Montrose could even be back at Saltergate and available to face Darlington on Saturday. "The news about Lewis is positive. We are still waiting to hear from Wigan but it is looking like the incident may not have caused as much damage as we first thought," said Chesterfield boss Lee Richardson.
