[LNB]Having held at bay Manchester City for the best part of an hour last Monday, the 27-year-old Dutchman took centre stage at the Liberty Stadium as the Premier League newcomers spoilt the homecoming of former player and manager Roberto Martinez. [LNB]Vorm, who joined from Utrecht for £1.5million earlier this month, not only kept a clean sheet, but capped an impeccable display by keeping out Ben Watson's penalty, 17 minutes from time. [LNB]For Rodgers, it was a contribution that further vindicated his decision to wait until the 11th hour to sign a suitable replacement for last season's number one, Dorus de Vries. [LNB]'There was a whole raft of propaganda over the summer, in terms of goalkeepers we were signing,' Rodgers said. 'We were linked with every keeper in world football with the exception of Edwin van der Sar, who was retiring. But we also had a small list of goalkeepers that would fit our style and Michel was one of them. [LNB]Related Articles
