McArthur targetting maximum points

Latics midfielder James McArthur is targetting nothing but maximum points from this weekend's clash with Fulham at the DW Stadium.

The Latics have now lost seven games on the bounce and presently sit in the relegation zone.

Despite a positive performance against Newcastle last weekend Roberto Martinez's side came away without a deserved share of the spoils.

With four crucial games coming up against Fulham, Wolves, Blackburn and Sunderland, midfielder James McArthur is targetting maximum points.

He told the Wigan Observer: "It's obviously important over the course of the season that your performance levels are high, but in one-off games sometimes you need to do whatever it takes to get the points.

"Saturday's game comes into that bracket, and if it takes not playing great, and it being a very scrappy game, but we get the win, I'd take that - and that goes for every single one of us in the dressing room.

"We played really well at Newcastle, we created numberous chances and unfortunately we couldn't take any. But that's the way it's going - hopefully things will turn for us soon."

McArthur's form this season has been a positive for the Latics, although the former Hamilton midfielder has not been utilised as much as some supporters would like.

The Wigan Observer is available every Tuesday priced at 75p.
