M'Bami cuts Latics ties

Wigan have confirmed that they will not be offering a contract to Modeste M'Bami after both parties failed to agree terms. The midfielder has spent the last two weeks on trial with the Latics but the Premier League club were only prepared to offer the 26-year-old a short-term deal while the player was holding out for a longer contract. The Cameroon international is available on a free transfer having let his contract with Marseille run down at the end of last season. The former Paris St Germain ace has reportedly had trials with Portsmouth, Bolton and Wolves this summer but has failed to impress enough to earn a deal. M'Bami now looks set to try his luck at Primera Liga side Almeria as he looks to find regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup next summer.
