Martinez pleased with Boselli

Roberto Martinez has praised Mauro Boselli after the striker returned for pre-season training this summer.

The twenty-six year old has found life difficult thus far with the club since arriving two seasons ago from Estudiantes in Argentina.

However with the Latics now playingunder a different style of play, one that is likely to be more suited to Boselli, Martinez is pleased to have the Argentinian back in the squad.

"Everyone is in the same position at the start of pre-season - the slate is clean and it's a fresh start for all the players," Martinez told the Wigan Evening Post.

"That applies to Mauro as much as anyone, because he brings something different - something that we don't have in the squad. What we have to do is allow him to show that.

"His attitude has been very good, he is a real pro and we hope he can settle back in and show his undoubted quality.

"We have seen Mauro having good experiences over in Italy and back home in Argentina, and he is desperate to be a success in England now.

"His season only finished on June 24, which made it a long, long campaign in which he scored a number of important goals.

"But he was desperate to rejoin the group here, come over to Austria and start playing games again. We are all excited about that prospect and we will all wait and see how that develops.

"We need to take it step by step - I don't think there's a need to look too far down the line, because he is coming in on the back of a very intense season.

"Hopefully the next week or so will show us how quickly he'll be able to help this group of players to get results next season."
