Martinez places games ahead of transfers

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez does not want the transfer window to distract his side from retaining their Premier League status. Athletic are currently in the bottom three despite a run of just one defeat in seven games, and reports have linked the Spanish boss with moves for a number of players, while key members of his squad, such as Hugo Rodallega and Charles N'Zogbia, are rumoured to be on the wishlists of other clubs. But with games against Arsenal and Aston Villa on the horizon, Martinez is concentrating on points rather than purchases. "We are focussing on the games in front of us," he said. "We have a game with Arsenal and a game with Villa and they need our full concentration. "We`re not going to be distracted by people`s futures or by speculation. "We need to concentrate on the team. The transfer window is great for the media and people on the outside, but we need to keep our focus."
