Martinez: Moses a special talent

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez believes it was a 'shame' Latics forward Victor Moses was not called up to the England squad.[LNB] The former Crystal Palace striker, who is just 20 years of age, has yet to be capped at senior level and was overlooked by the Italian for this month's friendly international against the Netherlands.[LNB]The match was eventually cancelled following the London riots but Martinez has yet to overcome his surprise that Moses, who is set to become a key player for the Latics in the Premier League following the departure of Charles N'Zogbia to Aston Villa, was not given his chance to play for the Three Lions.[LNB]"You don't see many footballers like Victor," said the 38-year-old, according to The Sun. "He's a special talent.[LNB]"He's only 20 and I just think that it was a shame when Fabio Capello decided not to call him up."[LNB]Moses joined Wigan from Palace in January 2010 and gave a good account of himself in the remainder of the 2009-10 campaign. [LNB]However, the Nigeria-born striker struggled with injuries last season and also faced tougher competition for places, but Martinez believes that this time he will step up to the mark.[LNB]"He's played enough games in the Premier League for people to know about him," enthused the Spaniard. "He wants to be the best and he's a real joy to work with."[LNB]Wigan started the new Premier League season with a 1-1 draw with Norwich City at home at the weekend and travel to Swansea on Saturday.
