Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has let rip into what he called the "disgusting" speculation that has surrounded Maynor Figueroa.
Ahead of the 2-1 defeat at Blackburn, reports had surfaced that Figueroa had gone on strike in an apparent attempt to engineer a move away from the DW Stadium.
Sunderland, and former Latics boss Steve Bruce, have been continuously linked with a move for Figueroa over the past month.
Martinez believes all the gossip has been stirred up by the 26-year-old's agent.
"In the window there is a lot of talk and speculation, and it is a great moment for the authorities to look into how much we need it," said Martinez.
"We come into this game and one of my players has been surrounded by a lot of speculation and stories about him going away. Unhappy is not the right word. I'm disgusted."
