Martinez hails 'quality' first Wigan signing after completing £1.7m Gomez deal

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has made his first signing as a Premier Leagueboss after completing a deal to bring in midfielder Jordi Gomez from Espanyol. The 24-year-old playmaker is well known to Martinez, who took him to Swansea ona year-long loan last season. Gomez scored 14 goals for the Swans in the Coca-Cola Championship and Martinezhas wasted no time in bringing the player back to Britain. He completed a medical today and signed a three-year contract, for a reported £1.7million fee. 'Jordi is a real quality player, [has] a great left foot and is extremely pleasing on the eye as a player,' said Martinez. 'I have no doubts in my mind that he will do well in the Premier League. 'I think he can go all the way in the game, and to play in the Premier League is the next step in his career.'
