Martinez frustrated by injury crisis

Given the departures of Momo Diame, Victor Moses, and Hugo Rodallega over the summer, the clubs present injury crisis is frustrating manager Roberto Martinez.

The Latics appears to be the walking wounded at the moment with no fewer than eight first team players out of action.

Gary Caldwell, Ivan Ramis, Adrian Lopez, James McCarthy, Ben Watson, Ryo Myaichi, Albert Crusat, James McArthur and Shaun Maloney have all spent time in the treatment room in recent weeks.

With the national press far off the mark questioning Martinez on player sales as the reason for the present lull in form the Latics boss was forced to tell the Daily Mirror: "What is affecting us far more in this period is that we've had injuries to seven or eight players.

"In every transfer market where we have lost players, we have replaced them and improved the side. Victor Moses is a very special player, but his departure has helped us grow and invest."   The Latics face Arsenal at the DW Stadium in the early kick off on Saturday.
