Martinez eyes Tamudo swoop

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is lining up a move for Spanish striker Raul Tamudo, skysports.com understands. The 31-year-old Espanyol legend has played over 300 games for the Barcelona outfit, scoring 129 goals in the process. But Tamudo is keen to try his luck abroad before his career ends and England appears to be his favoured destination. A number of clubs including Sunderland, Wolves and Birmingham have been linked in recent weeks. But recently appointed Martinez is understood to be very keen on the experienced Tamudo. Tamudo would cost around £2million and Martinez is now looking to open talks about the Spanish international. Espanyol are already looking at possible replacements for Tamudo, one of whom could be Chelsea's Ben Sahar. Reports suggest they are close to sealing a £1million deal the young Israeli.
