Latics boss Roberto Martinez is excited by new addition Shaun Maloney after the £1 million deadline day addition made his debut for the club. Twenty-eight year old Maloney had a tough time during his last spell in English football with Aston Villa, but Martinez is confident the talented Scotish international will be a big success with the Latics. The Latics boss told Sky Sports News: "The biggest aim we have got is that Shaun enjoys his football because in any moment of your career you have got good and bad experiences. "What is important now is that Shaun is injury free. He's got a fantastic football brain, he's got great experience and I want him to enjoy his football in his most important years of his career. "At 28 you have got that maturity about you, you have got enough experiences to look back and use them and then technically he is such a gifted player that he is going to give us a unique touch in our squad. "If we can get Shaun to enjoy his football we are going to get a lot in the squad from him." Following his performance against Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup this week, Maloney is said to be pushing for a place against Everton at Goodison Park this weekend.
