Wigan boss Roberto Martinez was delighted after his side registered their first home league win of the campaign against West Ham. Hugo Rodallega's 55th minute strike proved the difference between the sides at the DW Stadium. The victory halted a run of three successive league defeats and gave Martinez's side a welcome three points before upcoming games against Arsenal and Chelsea. Martinez told Sky Sports that his players deserved the victory. "It was a moment that we had to look behind the result and the performance has been really good," he said, adding his side are still in a transition period after he took over in the summer. "But the win is what the players deserved, especially after our last game. "In football if you carry on doing the right things sometimes you get the rewards and I'm so delighted for the players and the fans, they played a big role today." He added Wigan had huge respect for West Ham and the teams had cancelled each other out. "But the passion and the determination of both sides to get the three points was something that is great to see in any football game," he said. "So in that respect, I'm delighted that we can find the answers that were needed today to try to get the three points. "And in the longer term, to carry on growing, carry on working hard."
