The rumours are that Chris Kirkland is set to join Sven Goran Eriksson at Leicester City to ensure the former England goalkeeper is playing first team football. Latics boss Roberto Martinez has today moved to confirm the need for Kirkland to be playing regularly after being displaced from the Wigan first team by Ali Al-Habsi. The Spaniard is quoted in the Guardian: "Chris is working well and training at a fantastic level. "He needs to play football to regain his full level and so I will speak to Chris and make the right decision in that respect. He has not missed a training session in eight weeks and you can recall a goalkeeper in 24 hours if you need him." Kirkland will of course be familiar with Eriksson from the duo's time with the England national team. There has been no word at present from the Walker Stadium. CLICK HERE FOR THE MESSAGEBOARD
