Martinez backs Boselli to come good

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has urged Wigan fans to give misfiring striker Mauro Boselli time to adapt to the rigours of life in the Barclays Premier League. The Argentinian has yet to open his account for the Latics despite starting all five of the team's games since a £6million summer move from Estudiantes. A glaring miss during Saturday's 1-1 home draw with Sunderland did little to endear him to the Wigan faithful, but Martinez has backed the 25-year-old to find the net soon. "Mauro is in the middle of a transitional period at the moment," said Martinez. "He comes from a completely different, less physical league but his work-rate is good and he's always in the right place at the right time. "If he gets into a scoring situation, nine times out of 10 he will score but it just wasn't to be (on Saturday). "He is getting there, his fitness levels are getting very close to 90 minutes. Mauro is a goalscorer and he will be a goalscorer for Wigan."
