Wigan have been chasing the powerful midfielder for the last few weeks and now a deal has been finally agreed.

The move was expected to go through last week only for the move to be held up following a medical concern, but all has been cleared up and Diame will now make the switch to the DW Stadium.

Diame will help fill the void left by Lee Cattermole's departure to Sunderland and his signing will come as a welcome boost to Latics boss Roberto Martinez as he looks to finalise his squad before the close of the transfer window.

Wigan are now hoping to receive international clearance from the Spanish Football Federation in time for Diame to make his debut against Manchester United this weekend.
