Latics off to winning start after successful Sweden trip

Following on from four days of training at Östersunds, that has included three sessions a day, the Latics finished off with a training game against their hosts. Goals from Mauro Boselli and Victor Moses were enough for the Latics to take a 2-1 victory in front of a local crowd of almost 2,000. Boselli had a difficult time in his first season with the Latics but supporters are hoping that the goal hungry Argentine can kick start his career in England and hit the heights he did with Estudiantes. It is almost twelve months to the day that Boselli scored his first goal for the club in the corresponding fixture last term. Speaking to the club's official website, Roberto Martinez spoke of how pleased he has been with the trip. "These matches are about starting to get the players back to match sharpness and I have been happy with the work we have achieved in Sweden this week," he said. Also of note for Latics supporters was the presence of Ali Al-Habsi between the sticks. The goalkeeper has now completed his move from local neighbours Bolton Wanderers.
