With Mauro Boselli and Franco Di Santo already at hte club the Latics are being linked with a move for a third Argentine striker.

Luciano Becchio of Leeds United is being strongly linked with the Latics in various press outlets this morning with the rumour being that Becchio was present at Dean Court last night to watch the Latics in their cup tie with Bournemouth.

The strength of the rumour is such that Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has commented to say that Becchio is presently unwell and was at home last night.

The former Sheffield United and Q.P.R. manager said: "I've heard the rumours but I think he has texted Shaun Harvey (Leeds chief executive) to say he is at home. So he's obviously heard the rumours.

"We lost Becchio this morning, he came off training on Monday and said he felt sick. And then the doc said he was sick in the night so he didn't travel."

Warnock however wouldn't be drawn on whether Becchio wanted to remain with Leeds after the close of the transfer window.

He added: "We'll see. I can't tell you anything other than that. I spoke to the owners and in due course we'll probably speak about that."

Becchio has cored 76 goals in 188 apearances for Leeds since joining from Merida in 2008.
