Latics land keeper Al Habsi on loan

Wigan have snapped up Oman international goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi on a season-long loan from Premier League rivals Bolton.[LNB] Al Habsi had limited opportunities at the Reebok Stadium but did impress when offered a run in the side which competed in the UEFA Cup in the 2007/08 season.[LNB]Latics boss Roberto Martinez is convinced the 28-year-old can challenge established number one Chris Kirkland.[LNB]"We need competition in every department, and Ali will certainly do that," he said.[LNB]"He has a terrific attitude to the game and after four years in England knows all about the Premier League.[LNB]"We are delighted to welcome him on board."[LNB]The Muscat-born goalkeeper first made his name in Europe at Lyn Oslo in Norway, and has appeared 70 times for his country.[LNB]
