Adrian Lopez, or Piscu as he is more commonly known has finally ended his six month limbo by signing for the Latics on a free transfer. The 23 year old defender had allowed his contract with Deportivo la Coruna to expire in Spain. Then expecting to move on a free transfer, the player had his contract automatically renewed by the Spanish club. The former Spanish uner 19 and under 21 international has been training with the Latics for the past six months as the legal limbo took place. The Latics were yesterday able to confirm that all the relevant documentation has now been received and Piscu is clear to play in tomorrow's game against Newcastle United. Speaking about the move, Latics boss Roberto Martinez said: "We've been waiting a while for the FIFA resolution, and it's great to see Adrian's desire to play for Wigan Athletic can finally be fulfilled."He is a player with a fantastic football education, coming through the ranks of Deportivo La Coruña and playing for Spain at Under 19 and Under 21 level, which gives him a unique development, and makes him a defender with real potential."He is a defender who is very calm under pressure, and is a great reader of the game, and I am confident he will be able to fulfill his potential at Wigan. He is desperate to help the squad to win games for Wigan Athletic." Piscu has been allocated the squad number 24. CLICK HERE FOR THE MESSAGEBOARD
