Latics complete Albrighton loan signing

Following the news that Shaun Maloney is going to be out of action for up to six months Owen Coyle has dipped into the loan market once more and signed Aston Villa winger Marc Albrighton on loan.

The 23 year old has initially joined on a one month loan deal with the option to extend and Coyle was visibly pleased with the signing.

He said: “He is a player I have always admired and someone I tried to buy at Bolton a couple of years ago in the Premier League.

“I have no doubts about his qualities. He has been on his way back and played against Spurs a few weeks ago – as much as Spurs won the game he was fantastic.

“Marc has shown what an outstanding player he is time and again in the Premier League, and he is someone I have tried to sign in the past, so I’m delighted to bring him on board to strengthen our squad.

“He’s at a young age with the potential and scope to get even better; he’s quick, dangerous and pleasing on the eye and I feel he’s going to really enhance the attacking options we have at Wigan Athletic, particularly in light of Shaun Maloney’s absence.”

Albrighton made his debut against QPR last night as he came on as a late substitute for Jordi Gomez but didn't have much time or chance to influence the result.
