Latics boss hints at Dicko deal

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is keen to make exciting Strasbourg starlet Nouha Dicko his third signing of the summer.[LNB] The Latics boss has been impressed by the 19-year-old striker during a recent trial spell and admits he is tempted to offer the youngster a permanent deal.[LNB]Dicko is currently available as a free agent as Strasbourg have been forced to release all of their players due to financial difficulties.[LNB]Martinez appreciates that it is not often that such talent becomes available and is hoping he will be given the green light by the relevant authorities to push on with discussions.[LNB]He told the Wigan Evening Post: "We are hoping that everything will be concluded very, very soon on that one.[LNB]"Unfortunately for Strasbourg, because of their financial problems, they've lost control of their players, and all we are waiting for is clarification from the FA that is the case so we can bring in Nouha.[LNB]"At 19, he is a really exciting prospect and we're looking forward to working with him.[LNB]"Only time will tell how quickly he develops, and we'll need to be patient with him.[LNB]"The first few months will be about him understanding the way we want him to play and the rhythm of the English league.[LNB]"But he is a very intelligent boy, which allows him to take concepts on very quickly, and I hope to see him fulfilling his potential very soon.[LNB]"If he can do that, he'll be competing for a first-team place certainly by the end of the season."[LNB]Martinez believes Dicko possesses all the attributes required to be a success in the Premier League.[LNB]He added: "He has real pace, and a real raw talent - and players like that are difficult to find in this day and age."
