Lansdown dismisses Wigan link

Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown insists Wigan have not made an approach for midfielder Marvin Elliott. Reports on Sunday suggested Latics boss Roberto Martinez was lining up a bid for Elliott, who has made great strides at Ashton Gate since his move from Millwall just over two years ago. But Lansdown told the Bristol Evening Post: "Newspapers are always speculating about players and that's all this is. I've certainly not heard anything from Wigan." He added: "I wouldn't be surprised if Premier League clubs started looking at some of our players towards the end of the transfer window, because that is what happens. "But there are no offers in for any of our players at the moment and we hope that's the way things will stay."
