Cardiff City have signed Wigan Athetic midfielder Jason Koumas on a season-long loan deal, subject to the lifting of their transfer embargo.[LNB] Koumas enjoyed a successful season loan spell at Cardiff in the 2005-06 season and he has been linked with a move back to the Bluebirds since that time.[LNB]Cardiff boss Dave Jones tried to sign him following that loan spell but West Brom rejected his approach and eventually sold Koumas to Wigan in 2007.[LNB]The Wrexham-born 30-year-old has since dropped out of the picture at the DW Stadium and been told he does not figure in Roberto Martinez's long-term plans.[LNB]Jones is keen to strengthen his squad before the start of the Championship season this weekend and he has agreed a loan deal for the Wales international.[LNB]Cardiff are currently under a transfer embargo but it is expected that once this embargo is cleared, Koumas will join the Bluebirds.[LNB]He joins fellow summer signings Tom Heaton and Daniel Drinkwater in currently being unable to feature in Sunday's opener at home to Sheffield United.[LNB]Bluebirds chief executive Gethin Jenkins told City's official website: "We continue to work towards removing hurdles at the club and are working with the intention to come out of embargo ahead of the new season.[LNB]"During this time, Dave [Jones, manager] has presented targets including Jason Koumas as he looks to strengthen the squad.[LNB]"We are pleased to have agreed terms with Wigan and to welcome Jason back to Cardiff City."
