Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has been linked with a January loan move to Championship team Leicester City. Kirkland has been forcedout of his number one spot at the DW Stadium by the impressive form of Ali Al-Habsi. With Al-Habsi seemingly in control of the number one spot, and moves in place to make his loan deal from Bolton permenant, Kirkland is looking elsewhere for his football. The England international goalkeeper is said to be keen to team up with former England boss, Sven Goran Eriksson at the Walker Stadium. It is unclear whether Roberto Martinez would sanction such a move that would leave him with just Mike Pollitt and youngster Ben Nicholls as cover for Oman international, Al Habsi. It is rumoured that Kirkland has spoken with Martinez regarding his long term future and he has stated in the past that he will not be happy as second choice. There has been no official word on the transfer from any party at present. CLICK HERE FOR THE MESSAGEBOARD
