Keep calm and wait says Whelan

Despite being quoted as saying all is quiet on the Western front, Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan is relaxed about signings for the club this summer

Whelan has been more out-spoken than usual this summer as the saga's involving both manager Roberto Martinez and start player Victor Moses have dominated the headlines.

With the future of Victor Moses set to continue to sell newspapers, Whelan took the time to relax supporters frustrations at the lack of additions this summer.

There are now roughly six weeks to go until the start of the season and on the transfer front, Whelan told the Wigan Evening Post: "There's nothing to worry about as far as the fans are concerned, nothing at all. The lads are back in this week and that can sometimes move things along a bit.

"The truth is, we don't really know how busy it's going to be this summer. We lost five players from last year's squad, and those will obviously all have to be replaced.

"But Roberto is already well on to the case. He's always looking and I'm sure things are in good hands."

The club are believed to be in advanced negotiations over two potential additions whilst out of contract striker Hugo Rodallega is being linked with a move to Everton.
