Preston manager Alan Irvine admitted his side had been given a real workout during a 4-1 defeat at home to Wigan. Hugo Rodallega, Charles N`Zogbia, Michael Brown and Jason Scotland all struck for the Premier League side before Neil Mellor grabbed a late consolation. Irvine said: "Wigan passed the ball really well, their movement was good and there are a lot of things to learn from the game. "We an go away, study what we did well, study what we didn`t do so well and try and improve. "It was a great workout, the lads have put in a real shift because Wigan kept the ball so well. "Of course you don`t want to lose any game 4-1 but we haven`t lost any points and have got some benefit out of the game."
