I don't need to sell - Martinez

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez believes he can hang on to his best players as he is under no pressure to sell in order to balance the books. The Spaniard has already rejected a bid from Sunderland for midfielder Lee Cattermole but with Arsenal and Liverpool now linked with the England Under-21 international he could face a more difficult task to keep one of his key players. However, Martinez is operating within a financial comfort zone having sold winger Antonio Valencia to Manchester United for £16million and does not have to offload any more of his squad. "We are in a very strong position in that we don't have to sell - and there are not many football clubs in that situation," he told the Wigan Observer. "I'm delighted we don't have to lose any players to balance the books. "That's probably as good as any signing we'll make this season. You are always going to get interest in players who have played extremely well last season - that is absolutely normal. "But we want to build a team around certain players who will be vital to us. Lee Cattermole is a perfectionist and a winner, and I am not surprised at all that he has such an interest in his services."
