Helsingborg chase Edman

Helsingborg are keen to bring Wigan defender Erik Edman back to Sweden at the end of the season. The 30-year-old has struggled to regain his place in the Latics side this term after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in March 2008. Since then Maynor Figueroa has established himself as manager Steve Bruce's first choice left-back restricting the Swede to just one substitute appearance all campaign. But Helsingborg, where the former Tottenham man began his career, have admitted that they are interested in signing the player in the summer. "It is our hope and our expectation," sporting director Jesper Jansson told Expressen. "We are very interested in Erik. I talk to him once in a while, just asking about how things go. "He has told me that he wants to finish this season and see how it goes." However Jansson admitted that Edman's wages could prove to be a stumbling block in negotiations. "It is our goal. But we haven't looked into the economic part yet. He knows we are very interested, that's no secret. I hope this will go through," he added.
