Gunners benchmark

Matt le Tissier says the difference between Arsenal and Wigan was the Gunners class off the bench. Arsenal strengthened their grip on fourth spot as they came from behind at Wigan to run riot in the second half in claiming a 4-1 score line that somewhat flattered Arsene Wenger's side. "Steve Bruce will be seething," said Matt Le Tissier on Soccer Saturday. "Wigan were the much better team in the first half and Arsenal were not at the races. "They will not win matches when they play Nicklas Bendtner up front alone because he is not good enough to play that role. "The game only changed when the substitutes came on. The difference was that Wenger could change what was going wrong with the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Robin Van Persie on the Bench while Steve Bruce couldn't. "Bruce had to try and change when Mido got injured but he had nobody to come on with the physical presence to take Midos place upfront." Matt was also surprised that Theo Walcott came off so soon after scoring Arsenal's equaliser. "Walcott struggled," said Le Tissier. "Maynor Figueroa playing left back played him really well. He did look like he was lacking a little bit of confidence. "But I am sure the goal will give him a big gee up. But just after he scores the goal Wenger took him off."
