The Spanish midfielder has been reunited with Wigan boss Roberto Martinez after working with his compatriot at Swansea City last season.
Gomez is delighted at the prospect of playing in the Premier League and is hopeful he will shine at the DW Stadium.
He said: "I am living a big experience because always I have dreamed to play in the Premier League.
"Now Roberto Martinez has confidence in me and I can help Wigan. I am keen to help the squad.
"The differences between the Premier League and Championship are enormous. But I am confident I can make the step up.
