Defender Steve Gohouri is glad to be back in training with Wigan following Ivory Coast's disappointing World Cup campaign.[LNB] The Ivorian international, who linked up with the Latics squad on Monday, was present in South Africa but did not play for his country. [LNB]And 29-year-old Gohouri is hoping to make up for Ivory Coast's frustration by helping Wigan build on their 16th-placed finish in the Premier League last term. [LNB]"I am happy to see my team-mates again," said Gohouri, who joined the Latics earlier this year from Borussia reserves. [LNB]"I went to the World Cup, we did what we could but did not qualify with four points. We were a bit unlucky against Brazil.[LNB]"I did not play but I was with the team 100 per cent. Football is about the team, not individuals.[LNB]"I am back now with coach (Roberto) Martinez. We will try to go again and defy the odds. I think Wigan will do well this season. [LNB]"I will be more settled here, I know the town now."[LNB]Gohouri admits he is delighted to be one of the names linked with the vacant captaincy post at following former skipper Mario Melchiot's departure to Qatari club Umm Salal.[LNB]"I am honoured that my name is being associated with the captain's armband," he added. "That means I have leadership skills. [LNB]"I have been a captain before so it will be an honour to wear it but, with it or without it, I will repay Wigan and Roberto Martinez for showing faith in me. I owe them a lot."
