With his World Cup dreams well and truely alive, Steve Gohouri has signed a two year deal to remain with the Latics after impressing in the final four games of the season. The 29 year old defender spoke earlier in the week of his debt to Roberto Martinez after suffering from malaria and being dead to the game of football. Since joining the Latics, he has worked very hard and achieved peak fitness, going on to really impress in a Wigan shirt. On signing the new two year deal, Gohouri said: “I love it here in England and in the Premier League and I want to thank the manager for giving me the chance to prove myself. “Now I want to concentrate on staying fit and getting in the side on a regular basis next season and help to push the club to the next level.” Whilst manager Roberto Martinez said: “Steve has impressed everyone at the club with his commitment, power and skill. “He is desperate to prove himself at Wigan Athletic and I am delighted he has agreed to stay with us. He will add fantastic competition to the squad.” CLICK HERE FOR THE MESSAGEBOARD
