Gohouri agrees new deal
Steve Gohouri has agreed a new two year deal with the Latics following a successful first full season with the club. The 30 year old joined the Latics on a free transfer in January of the previous season and has gone on to establish himself within the squad. Now, Gohouri has signed a new extension to his contract with the Latics that commits the Ivorian international defender to the DW Stadium until the summer of 2013. Speaking about the deal, Gohouri's agent, Rui Aves said: "We are delighted with Steve's new contract with Wigan. "Roberto and (Wigan chairman) Mr Whelan are fantastic people and this team deserve to be in the Premier League. "Steve had some contacts to go somewhere else next season, but we decided to stay here and make this club a very good club, with some good signings they can have a great season next year." Going into a summer where the are expected to be a number of key additions, it is great news for the club to tie up such a deal for Gohouri.
