Don't laugh - Kirkland tips Wigan team-mate Bramble for England call

Chris Kirkland believes his Wigan [LNB]team-mate Titus Bramble deserves an call-up to Fabio Capello's England squad.[LNB]With Newcastle United, Bramble was more a figure of fun than a genuine alternative to John Terry and Rio Ferdinand, but the former England Under 21 defender's form this season has been a significant factor behind Wigan's push for a place in next season's Europa League (the UEFA Cup's replacement).[LNB]Wigan have one of the best defensive records in the Barclays Premier League and goalkeeper Kirkland said: 'If he keeps playing the way he is then he has to be in with a shout. He is the outstanding player on the pitch most weeks at the moment.[LNB] Earning his stripes: Titus Bramble challenges Manchester United forward Carlos Tevez[LNB] [LNB]'If he can keep that up, why not? He has had a tough time from a few people, totally unfair in my opinion. He just needs to carry on showing what he can do for Wigan.[LNB]'Titus has been our Player of the Year this season. He has been superb and deserves all the plaudits because he has taken some unfair criticism throughout his career and now he is throwing it back at his critics which is great. [LNB]'I have played behind him now for a couple of seasons and when I know he is playing it makes me feel a lot easier. An England call-up would be a great boost for him and a great boost for the club as well.'[LNB] WIGAN v West Ham: Valencia and Mido back for Latics[LNB]Brian Moore and Dickie Davies - recession-beating brilliance when ITV sport gave you more than just mints and German cars[LNB]Can your club make it to Europe?
