The powerful midfielder has been a key player for the Latics so far this term and is set to miss the best part of two months as he appears for Senegal in the tournament.
With a kick off date of 21 January and the final set for 12 February, Diame could well miss almost two months of football for the Latics as he joins up with the Senegal camp from as early as next week.
Diame is set to be joined by other Premier League stars, Demba Ba and Armand Traore with Senegal tipped to go far in the tournament.
