Diame set for timely return

Momo Diame is set to return from injury for the Latics this weekend against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Diame's return to fitness is a welcome boost for Roberto Martinez as both James McCarthy and James McArthur have worked remarkably hard over the last few games.

The support of the influential Diame for the trip to Stamford Bridge will be a big help for the Latics manager.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post about Diame's return, Martinez said: "Momo has trained really well this week, and I am working under the assumption he will be fully-fit for the last seven fixtures.

“He has responded very well to treatment, and we just need to make sure we tailor his programme to make sure he gets back to exactly the same level he was at earlier in the season.”

Diame was without doubt one of the key players for the Latics before his January departure to the African Cup of Nations. Hopefully the Senegalese midfielder will be able to re-caputre his early season form over the final seven games of the season.
