Following his two goals and fantastic performance against Queens Park Rangers, youthful striker Franco Di Santo is winning all the plaudits. The former Chelsea forward has found goals hard to come by during his time in English football's top league but the 22 year old has started this season like a house on fire for the Latics, a fact that is not lost on manager Roberto Martinez. The Spaniard who brought Di Santo to the DW Stadium is well aware of the potential talent that he has on his hands and was full of praise for the Argentine following his sensational performance against QPR. The Latics boss said: "I feel that sometimes we have been a bit unfair to assess Franco on the number of goals that he has scored. He came to Wigan at a very young age and he is still only 22. "The way he works, the way he understands the game now. I think the reward that he had today is just what he deserves. He has always been influential in what the team needs, he works very, very hard. But for a striker there is nothing better than hitting the back of the net. "He knows he needs to work really hard, but to fulfil his potential there is a long way to go. I feel that he has got absolutely everything. He knows that is just the start of what could be a phenomenal career." With Charles N'Zogbia having left the club, supporters are looking for a new star to light up games at the DW Stadium and following Di Santo's great start to the season signs are positive it could well his year to make a big impact.
