Tomasz Cywka has left the Latics following the expiry of his contract with the club. The young Polish forward has joined Nigel Clough at Derby County. Cywka spent the final months of the season on loan with Derby and impressed sufficiently to be offered a contract with the Rams. Speaking to the Derby County Official Website, Nigel Clough said: "We're delighted to have Tomasz signed up for two years. "His performances towards the end of the season were impressive and we were delighted with what we saw. He instantly struck up a rapport with the supporters who took to Tomasz straight away. "Tomasz isn't the finished article by any means but he has plenty of talent and potential. We're confident he can develop with us and become a very good player for years to come in a Derby County shirt." The move will take full effect on 1st July 2010 when Cywka's contract with the Latics has officially expired. Given the fact that Cywka is under the age of 24 the Latics would be entitled to compensation from the Rams. It is unclear at this point whether there is any agreement on this front between the two clubs. Latics boss Roberto Martinez added: "There was a deal on the table for him here, but Tomasz feels his chances of first team football will be better served at Derby and I respect that decision. "We wish him all the best in the future, he is a good young professional who has always given his best for Wigan Athletic and has the potential to make a good career from football."
