Cleverley hoping to upset City

Loanee Tom Cleverley is hoping to get a start against Manchester City this weekend after impressing during his fifteen minutes in the weekend draw with Sunderland. The England under 21 international midfielder is also hoping he can do his parent club, Manchester United, a favour by shooting down City. Cleverley told the Wigan Evening Post: "Obviously I'd love to get one over United's rivals on Sunday, if selected. It's games like this that I came to Wigan to play, and hopefully we can do something against them. "I only got 20 minutes against Sunderland but it was nice to get out there on the pitch. Obviously the circumstances were difficult, 1-0 down and they were just sitting in there. But we equalised and could even have won it at the end. "My focus now is getting a good week of training under my belt and proving to the gaffer I deserve a place on the pitch against City." Cleverley can play anywhere across the midfield but he has described himself as an attacking midfielder who likes to score goals. A couple of goals at the weekend wouldn't go amiss with either the Latics or United fans. CLICK HERE FOR THE MESSAGEBOARD
