New loan signing Tom Cleverley is hoping to get the chance to make an impression for the Latics this weekend as Sunderland visit the DW Stadium. The midfielder is currently on loan from Manchester United and only joined up with his team mates this week after spending the weekend away with the England under 21 international team. Now, Cleverley who sees himself as a goalscoring midfielder, is keen to get into the starting line up for the Latics and show the country what is can do. Speaking to the club's official website, Cleverley said: "My aim at Wigan Athletic is to impress the manager and hopefully get myself into the starting eleven, and stay there."It's an exciting time at the club at the moment. They play good football with lots of young players and I just really want to be a part of that and do the best I can, and so I'm very excited to be here. "I can play in a number of positions and it's just wherever the manager wants me to play. I see myself as a goal-scoring midfielder, but I am willing to play wherever I am of use.""The game against Sunderland is a big game for us. I know a couple of their lads, as I've just been away with them with England in the week, and hopefully I will be involved and we can get the three points." CLICK HERE FOR THE MESSAGEBOARD
