The 27 year old England international is seeking a move back to the UK to help deal with an illness of his child.
When asked if the Latics were in talks for Carson Bursapor's head of international relations, Gedik Huseyin said: "The two clubs are still in negotiations. Scott has done very well since being in Turkey and it will be sad to see him leave.
"But we understand there are issues with his family which means he needs to move home."
A fee in the region of £700,000 has been muted with rumours that Al Habsi is interesting newly promoted Hull City.
The news of Carson's impending addition follows after the additions of Thomas Rogne from Celtic, Stephen Crainey from Blackpool, and Chris McCann from Burnley as Owen Coyle stamps his authority on the squad.
